Volkswagen‘s innovative 1.4-liter TSI2009 International Engine of the Year, beating out BMW’s potent 3.0-liter instruct-injected twin-turbo six-cylinder powerplant by just four points. The Twincharged 1.4 liter TSI also won both the 1.0 to 1.4 liter engine category and the honor of the Green Engine of the Year, beating out the Japanese hybrid power rivals from Toyota and Honda’s 1.3-liter IMA fusion powertrain.
